Happy New Year

Happy 2013 everyone! I've decided that I like odd numbered years best, so Im hoping 2013 will be a good year.

In the New Year I always say I'll keep my blog more regularly but considering I didn't post a single entry in December it's not going to be hard to be more conscientious with my blogging!

So here's a December update:

I continued working as a volunteer for Moorfields Eye Charity which was great as I finished a couple of paid contracts in December, so had some time on my hands.

I seemed to spend most of December baking. I made my first traditional Christmas cake following Nigella Lawson's recipe. You can see a photo of the finished item below.

I also baked scores of mince pies and cakes, made a trifle and 3 fruit loaves. (There's a photo of the fruit loaf below too) It's a river cottage recipe.

We had a lovely quiet Christmas spending time over the last few weeks with family and friends.

Today being New Years Day we invited friends round for a spot of lunch and had a lovely time. Sadly 2 of our friends couldn't make it because one of their little girls was sick. But the rest of us did a fine job of eating their share of the food too!

You can see a photo of the spread below minus the trifle Jase made.

The cats were quite sociable for the first couple of hours but then sloped off to be found asleep in the suitcase in our spare room which still has a load of clothes in it I need to sort though!

Jase is back at work tomorrow and I have a bid to write so its back to reality now.
